As part of the Fall Sellers Update, eBay has increased the number of characters they will accept in the Sub Title field from 55 to 80. Your eBay Sub Title is very beneficial to your ad as all text within this field is searchable. During the creation of your eBay listing within the Auction123 system, we will attempt to automatically populate this field with a keyword rich Sub Title. To take advantage of the increased character limit, you can edit the eBay Sub Title within your Dashboard by adding up to 80 characters within this field.

Editing your eBay Sub Title within the Auction123 System:

Be sure to edit the Sub Title prior to listing your vehicle on eBay. If the vehicle is already live as a National Listing, you can edit the sub title if the vehicle does not have any bids. If the listing is a live Local Market ad, you can edit the subtitle if the vehicle does not have any pending offers.

• Navigate to the eBay View of the vehicle you wish to edit
• Click on the Sub Title link within the eBay details to open the Listing Editor
• Add additional characters to the auto-generated "Auction123 eBay Sub Title" or use our Keyword Suggestions link for additional information
• Click Save Listing to apply your Sub Title edits

eBay Fees:

eBay Motors has altered the fee structure for listing vehicles. The following is a breakdown of the more significant changes your dealership should be aware of:

• eBay now factors your fees based on if you are categorized as either a "High Volume" or a "Low Volume" seller
  
  
• A Low Volume seller is defined as anyone who lists or relists 1-6 listings in a calendar year. Low Volume sellers fall into the following fee structure:
  
  
  • Cars and Trucks, RVs & Campers, Commercial Trucks, Motorcycles, Powersports, Boats, and Trailers: $0 Insertion Fee. The Successful Listing Fee will be $60 for vehicles sold for $2000 or less and $125 for vehicles sold for more than $2000.
    
    
• A High Volume seller is defined as anyone who has listed 7 or more listings in a single calendar year. High Volume sellers fall into the following fee structure:
  
  
  • Cars and Trucks, RVs & Campers, and Commercial Trucks: $50 Insertion Fee and $0 Successful Listing Fee.
  • Motorcycles, Powersports, Boats, Trailers and Other Vehicles: $20 Insertion Fee. The Successful Listing Fee will be $30 for vehicles sold for $5000 or less and $60 for vehicles sold for more than $5000.

Removal of the Inventory, eBay, and Craigslist Tabs:

The first change you will notice is the removal of the Inventory, eBay, and Craigslist tabs from the top of the Dashboard. To access those screens, use the corresponding links in the left-hand navigation menu under the Listings category.

Customizable Data Grids by Category:

The new data grid functionality provides control over the data fields displayed within your Auction123 Dashboard. Easily customize the data grid to show the information you find the most useful when accessing your inventory in the Auction123 System. These changes will be saved on a per user basis.  

1. To modify your layout, hover over the space to the right of any column title.
2. Click on the arrow to open the column menu - From this menu you can also sort or filter the selected column.
3. Click on Columns to view all available display options. Check or uncheck to add or remove specific columns to your data grid.
4. Drag and drop columns to customize your view.
5. Click Save Layout.

Choose to either hide or display the vehicle details box at the bottom of the screen.

1. Click on Hide Details to display only vehicle records in the grid.
2. To display the details of any selected vehicle, double-click the record or select the Show Details button.

Additionally, you can customize the number of vehicle records displayed per page (up to 99).

Filtering the Data Grid by Vehicle Type:

If your inventory contains a mix of vehicle types, we have added a "category" filter to the data grid. This functionality provides the ability to customize your preferred layout for each category and view data that is specific and exclusive to each vehicle type. The data grid will initially display all vehicles in your inventory and the columns have been defaulted to the original grid layout.

1. Locate the keychain graphic in the top tool bar of the data grid.
2. Click on the arrow to view all available vehicle types currently represented in your inventory.
3. Select the vehicle category to be viewed.
4. Each category has been preset with default data columns. You can edit the columns for each category following the instructions above and click Save Layout to use your customized display going forward.
   
   

Quick Actions Menu:

Incorporated with the new display options, we've added the ability to perform common actions directly from the data grid. The Quick Actions Menu is available in all areas of the Auction123 Dashboard including the eBay and Craigslist data grids. To access the Quick Actions Menu, simply right-click any vehicle or click on the pencil icon within the data grid. A window will open to reveal the available actions for the selected vehicle. The quick actions will change based on which grid you are working in at the time.

In-Line Editing:

This time saving feature allows for quick edits within your stock number, pricing, or mileage columns. To change these fields on any record, click on the value in the grid to edit. A text box will open for you to enter the new value. Once the new value is entered, it will be automatically saved. Previous values can be viewed from the View Item History link within the Actions for this Item menu. If we are importing your data, performing this action will apply a lock to this field, preventing the imported value from overwriting your edited value until you manually disable the field lock.

Incorporated with the new grid functionality are keyboard shortcuts for easy navigation.

• Arrow Up/Arrow Down: Toggle through vehicle records within the grid
• Arrow Right/Arrow Left: View next or previous vehicle record pages within the grid
• Home Key/End Key: View first or last vehicle record pages within the grid
• Alt-Q: Opens the Quick Actions menu for the selected vehicle record

Auction123 now offers the ability to remove your Import Field Locks on a global scale. To perform any Bulk Action, simply navigate to the left-hand menu within your Auction123 Dashboard and click Bulk Actions. Once within the Bulk Actions screen, you can choose to Print Window Labels, Update Pricing, Revert Price Adjustment, or Edit Field Locks.

• Click Edit Field Locks to enter the Import Settings Screen. From this screen, you can view the various fields that currently have locks imposed on their values.
• The number next to each field indicates how many vehicles within your Dashboard have locks for each field type.
• Select which fields you wish to Unlock
• Set Action - Chose to either:
  • Unlock the selected fields and maintain the current value until the import value changes
    or
  • Unlock the selected fields and immediately change to the last imported value
• Click Results

• From the Results screen, you can view which vehicles will be affected by unlocking your selected fields.
• The Imported Value column displays the value each field was in the last import. If you've selected to change your unlocked vehicles to the import values, these will be applied once the process is complete.
• Choose to select all vehicles or select individual vehicles to be affected by the Field Lock removal
• Click Next to confirm the number of vehicles that will be affected by the Field Lock removal and verify how they will be altered.

The Auction123 Facebook Application was announced amongst the winners of the 12th annual Nifty 50 in the January 17th issue of Powersports Business magazine. Each year, Powersports Business selects 50 products or services to spotlight which are unique to the marketplace. The Auction123 Facebook Application is now available for Facebook business pages that have been merged with Facebook Places. Be sure to research the functionality changes that will occur if you merge your page prior to performing the action. See below for more information:

Facebook has released a new feature for business pages called Facebook Places. This allows users to "check in" to places of business and share their location with Facebook friends. As the Places functionality is still in development, not all businesses are available in the application. Facebook has included information in the "Help Forum" on how to create a place for your business and subsequently merge it with your existing business page. For those businesses that have a Places page created automatically, Facebook has been prompting admins upon signing in to the Business Page to perform the merge. There have been a number of issues with the process. The merging of a Facebook page and a Facebook place has caused most 3rd party Applications to break.

Adding Custom Titles, Tags, and Descriptions to your V-V-M YouTube Exports

• Navigate to the Auction123 Dashboard
• Select a vehicle containing video and navigate to the Actions for this Item menu
• Click on the Edit Third Party Video link
• If the vehicle contains a V-V-M and is currently appearing on YouTube, a YouTube section will expand
• Enter your custom Title, Tags and Descriptions and click Save
  
  

Easily monitor your YouTube statistics including the number of views and comments each video receives. To view statictics and update all your YouTube videos from one location, click Manage All in the bottom left hand corner of this window.

From this screen, you can click on the Title, Tags, and Descriptions for each video. Once you have updated the data, click Save All. Your changes will go out on the next feed to YouTube.

• Creating a Page: To maximize results on Facebook, be sure to link your page to an existing Facebook profile. Facebook does not allow businesses or organizations to start their own account. When a page is linked with an existing profile, you will be able to add applications and easily monitor your pages from one centralized location. 
  
  
• Developing an Interesting Page: Start out by creating photo albums of your staff, happy customers, and events. Uploading these photos creates a connection with your fans and provides visitors with something to do on your page. When new additions are made to your photos, make a wall post to link to the photo album. Upload your vehicle videos. Video is such a key element for effective internet marketing campaigns. If your dealership is uploading to YouTube, make the effort count by adding them to yet another location. You can also create videos exclusively for Facebook from your computers camera. Create entertaining videos! Funny demonstrations and interesting how-to videos are great ways to connect with your page visitors.
  
  
• Keep Your Posts Interesting: Remember why people use Facebook in the first place. It's an outlet for entertainment and information. Don't just post about your inventory. Post about events, local sports, industry related topics, and anything else you think will generate "Likes" and responses from your page visitors. Influence people to respond by asking them questions about the industry, their thoughts on sales practices, their favorite vehicle, and more. Invite your fans to post photos of their own vehicles or their favorite places to go on road trips. Try to keep your wall posts to one per day. Don't overwhelm your fans.
  
  
• Build Your Fan Base: Start by having each member of the team become a fan of the page. Once you have 25 fans, you can sign into Facebook and go to this link www.facebook.com/username to change your page URL. Doing this will make it easier to market your page to customers and prospects. Let your customers know about your page and how it's a great way learn information regarding their vehicle. Tell your prospects and let them know you post vehicle sales and special events on Facebook. Advertise your page URL on your email signatures and business cards. Throwing special events at your dealership when you've reached your 500th, 1000th, 5000th fan will boost your numbers. Advertise these events on your page.
  
  
• Use the Auction123 Inventory Wall Post Feature: When you receive new arrivals or have a special vehicle on the lot, be sure to use the Auction123 wall post. However, try not to inundate your fans with constant vehicle wall posts. You can post a vehicle of the day and highlight the "brand of the week." Spreading out your vehicle wall posts will help you keep fans intrigued while effectively marketing specific inventory. If you have a post linking to an article about your brand, follow it up with an inventory wall post of the same vehicle on your lot.
   
      
• Get Everyone Involved: Your service department can post information about any recalls, tips on keeping the car on the road, and articles they find pertaining to interesting service related issues. If your dealership is involved with Fleet sales, create a page specifically for your commercial vehicle department. Some dealerships create separate pages for their high-end vehicles, new, used, and wholesale vehicles. Mix it up. Remember that Facebook provides an excellent opportunity to generate SEO.
  
  
• Prepare Topics: Plan a list of topics before going live with your page. This will help when the creative juices run dry. Try having different members of your staff post on different days to help shake things up and keep the page lively. Remember, your goal is to make people want to read your posts and comments. When a fan comments on your post, it will automatically be linked to their page as well. So anyone who is friends with the responder will see a link to your page. Lighten up the mood and make it fun to pull new fans to your page.
  
  
• Draw Fans to Your Showroom: Most of your visitors and fans will check out your Auction123 Facebook Inventory Showroom when they are in the market for a vehicle. For those who aren't currently looking to buy, entice them to view your inventory with attention grabbing posts. Post about the Corvette you can't believe was traded in today or about the pricing cut on your SUVs. Creating once a week or twice a month post like these will draw people into your showroom that may not be in the market to purchase a vehicle. Once you have filtered the vehicles by your specified criteria, a results screen will appear. You can then select to print the stickers for all vehicles matching your criteria or select each vehicle individually.

When you are finished selecting the vehicles, click Next: Review.

You will be directed to a summary screen to verify the number of vehicles you've selected and if the Buyers Guides will be included in the bulk printing. After confirming the number of vehicles you've selected, click Next: Generate Preview to initiate the process. Length of completion will be contingent on the number of vehicles selected.

Once all of the selected Window Labels have been generated, you may then print to complete the process.

To enable this feature, navigate to the left-hand menu of your Auction123 Dashboard. Under Preferences, click on Account. Then, click on the History Reports Tab.  From this window, choose if you would like to display AutoCheck or CARFAX Vehicle History reports within your eBay, Email Ad to Customer, or Inventory Showroom templates.

To enable your AutoCheck account, simply enter your AutoCheck User Id number.

eBay Gallery Plus:  We now support the eBay Gallery Plus feature. When a shopper places their cursor over your vehicle image in the eBay results page, the image will expand to a larger size.  eBay currently charges $2 for this enhancement.

AutoCheck:  Auction123 now supports AutoCheck Vehicle History Reports within our templates.  If you have an AutoCheck account, from the Auction123 Dashboard, click on Account under the left hand Preferences menu.  Click on the History Reports tab to enter your AutoCheck account information.

eBay Motors is an significant component of the Auction123 Inventory Management and Marketing solution.  We strive to keep our dealers informed of any and all changes that may occur concerning eBay fees and policies.  Please read the following for pertinent information regarding eBay Motors. 

eBay Fees:

Beginning March 30, 2010, eBay Motors will be altering the fee structure for listing vehicles.  The following is a breakdown of the more significant changes your dealership should be aware of:

• You will still receive the first 4 vehicle listings free of Insertion Fees every 12 months for Auction-style or Fixed Price.  eBay is changing the Successful Listing Fee on these items sold at $2000 or less to $60. The Successful Listing Fee for these items sold for greater than $2000 will continue to be $125.
  
  
• After the 5^th listing, eBay is making the following changes based on vehicle category
  • Cars and Trucks, RVs & Campers, and Commercial Trucks:  $50 Insertion Fee and $0 Successful Listing Fee.
  • Motorcycles, Powersports, Boats, Trailers and Other Vehicles:  $20 Insertion Fee.  The Successful Listing Fee will be $30 for vehicles sold for $5000 or less and $60 for vehicles sold for more than $5000.

Top-Rated Seller Status:

Last year, eBay introduced Top-Rated Seller Status to reward those who create the best buying experience for their customers.  This year, eBay has developed a unique set of parameters specific to eBay Motors sellers, allowing the opportunity for vehicle sellers to achieve the same status.  Top-rated sellers in Motor Vehicles receive a "Top-Rated Seller" badge on their listings, increased visibility on their fixed priced listings in search results, and 20% off any Successful Listing Fees.  eBay has made changes to the requirements that must be met to achieve eBay Top-Rated Seller status.

• Vehicle sellers with accounts in good standing, 40 or more vehicle transactions every 12 months, high positive feedback rating & DSRs and who have been registered for at least 90 days can qualify.
  
  
• Top-Rated Seller status requirements for vehicle sellers will not include shipping DSRs. However, there will be a maximum number of Vehicle Purchase Protection claims a seller may have to be Top-rated. DSRs on Item As Described and Communication will also be important.
  
  
• Only vehicle transactions with U.S. buyers will count.
  
  
• Starting in September 2010 on eBay.com and eBay Motors, the PowerSeller icon or references to the PowerSeller designation can no longer be included in listing templates, listing descriptions, About Me pages, or eBay Stores pages. This will ensure clear differentiation for eBay Top-Rated Vehicle Sellers.

Auction123 now offers the ability to adjust your pricing within the Auction123 Dashboard instantaneously on a bulk scale. Our new Bulk Actions for pricing provides the functionality to increase or decrease various pricing fields by a set percentage or dollar amount. To perform any Bulk Action, simply navigate to the left-hand menu within your Auction123 Dashboard and click Bulk Actions. Once within the Bulk Actions screen, you can choose to Print Window Labels, Adjust Pricing, or Revert your previous pricing

Adjust Pricing:

• Click Adjust Pricing to enter the criteria screen.
  

• In the criteria screen, you can filter which vehicles you want included in your bulk pricing adjustment. Filter using the following criteria:

  Mileage Year Price Stock Number

• Once you have filtered the vehicles that are to be affected by the pricing adjustment, you can now select which pricing fields are to be altered.
  
• If you would like to use previously set pricing criteria, the system will store the last five bulk pricing adjustments your account has performed.
  
• Select if you want Field Locks to be applied to the vehicles that undergo pricing adjustments. Checking this box will ensure that the adjusted pricing fields will not be altered by any future imports of conflicting data. Click Here to learn more about our Field Level Locking features.
  
• You can increase or decrease the selected field by dollar amount or percentage.
  
• Select which field should be used as your pricing source
  
• Click Results to view the filtered vehicles and how the pricing will be affected
  ex: Set my Internet Price to be 10% more than the MSRP

• From the results screen you can view the current pricing and the potential adjusted pricing for the vehicles that fit your selected criteria
  
• Choose to select all vehicles or select individual vehicles to be affected by the pricing adjustment
  
• Click Next to confirm the number of vehicles that will be affected by the bulk pricing adjustment and verify how they will be altered.

Reverting Last Pricing Adjustment:

You can revert the most recent pricing adjustment anytime. Navigate to the Bulk Actions link within the left-hand menu of your Auction123 Dashboard. Upon clicking Revert Price Adjustment, you can review all vehicles that will be affected by the reversing of the last adjustment. The new values for the pricing fields will be displayed in this view.

Reverting the pricing adjustment will affect ALL vehicles that were previously changed. Review the number of vehicles affected by the reversing of the adjustment in the Summary screen and click Next.

Auction123 now offers the ability to update the pricing for your vehicles on a bulk scale. Simply navigate to your Auction123 Dashboard and click Bulk Actions under My Account within the left-hand navigation menu.

Upload up to 150 watermarks to the Image Management System to highlight special financing, sales, or to advertise your dealership's website and telephone number. One watermark can be applied as a global setting for all images, or you can manually select individual photos to display unique images.

Auction123 proudly announces additions to the most powerful data collection and processing functionality available to dealerships today.  Our new importing features support data imports for all vehicle categories including RVs, Commercial Trucks, Motorcycles, Powersports, Marine, and Aviation.  Integrating your data files with our system ensures your inventory is always up-to-date and accurate.  There are a few different ways to load data into the Auction123 Inventory Management and Marketing System:  DMS Polling, Web Services, receiving or retrieving a file via FTP, or by manually uploading your own inventory files via the web-based software. 

Auction123’s flexible data solutions provide dealerships with many options when importing, exporting, and displaying inventory.

Examples include:

• Merging data from multiple Auction123 accounts.
  • Example: A dealership group using multiple Auction123 accounts can have a portal site displaying their entire group's inventory, or you can choose to display all inventory on each rooftop's website.
• Splitting one DMS data file into multiple Auction123 accounts.
  • Example: For a dealership group with one DMS system, Auction123 can split the data to different Auction123 accounts, allowing each rooftop the ability to manage their own inventory.
• Combining data from multiple sources into one Auction123 account.
  • Example: New vehicle data from one source and used vehicle data from another source can be combined into one Auction123 account.

Our new Field Level Locking enhancement allows dealers to lock or unlock over 50 fields of data on a per-vehicle basis. With our Daily Import Summary, dealerships can now see the date of the last import, as well as the number of vehicles that were Added, Updated, and Marked Sold.

Through our web-based software, field data changes can be locked on a per-vehicle basis, and will remain unaltered during future imports.  For example, changing an internet price in your Auction123 web-based software will automatically lock this data, preventing imported data from overriding your changes.  When any field is locked, you will have the ability to see and/or select the data from the previous import.  Unlocking a field automatically allows the imported data to override any changes and resumes import refreshing for that field.

Import Summary:

You can now see a report detailing your last import directly from your Auction123 Dashboard. The Import Summary displays the date of the last import, as well as the number of vehicles that were Added, Updated, and Marked Sold.

*The following features can be implemented by your Auction123 Support Representative.

Thresholds: 

This feature acts as a "fail safe" in the event a problem occurs with your import file.  The process works as follows:

• Auction123 will not allow your data to update if the imported data has changed by more than your predetermined threshold.  To set this, simply determine what would constitute the halting of your imported data.  For example, your import file contains pricing updates that would affect more than 25% of your vehicles.
• If the import is over your set threshold, Auction123 will not allow an update of data until your dealership has been contacted to confirm the changes are legitimate.

Contact your Auction123 Support Representative to set the following thresholds:

• Total Percent Different
• Added Percent
• Updated Percent
• Removed Percent
• Split Percent
• Filtered Percent
  

Filtering:

Auction123 is a centralized management solution.  It is advised that you allow Auction123 to import all vehicle data and then set filters based on your specifications. 

• Auction123 can flag your inventory upon import. For example, wholesale items can arrive in an import and be flagged “remove from internet.” Doing this ensures that all wholesale vehicles will be excluded from your website and/or retail marketplaces.  These vehicles are still in your system and ready for Auction123 to send to eBay Motors and/or Craigslist.
• Based on your criteria, we can also exclude vehicles from being imported (i.e. exclude all wholesale vehicles).

Best of all, use of this functionality does not require any kind of subscription with uShip.

• eBay sellers who are categorized as a Low Volume Seller (less than 7 vehicle listings in a calendar year) will still automatically receive these reports.

High Volume Sellers:

• If you currently subscribe to AutoCheck by Experian, you will need to supply them with your eBay and AutoCheck ID. Visit Experian.com and complete a simple form.
  
• If you do not currently subscribe to AutoCheck by Experian but wish to continue utilizing the service, you must subscribe by March 31, 2012 to take advantage of promotional rates. You can choose a subscription to display vehicle history reports on your eBay listings only or a program to display vehicle history reports on all your internet listings.

Anyone attempting to post an ad to Craigslist must first login directly to their Craigslist account (http://www.craigslist.org) and review the new Terms of Use.
